NHRI Capacity Development Partnership Project
In August 2011, the IHRC, in collaboration with Irish Aid, launched a new National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) Capacity Development Partnership Project, which is designed to be implemented by the IHRC and will constitute an important part of the Commission's work over the coming year.
Through this project the IHRC is working in partnership with colleague NHRIs based in Africa to provide support and assistance in the realisation of their mandates as set out in the Paris Principles. It allows for the exchange of good practices and identification of possible joint work between the IHRC and colleague NHRIs and serves to strengthen the promotion and protection of human rights globally.
The project builds on the fruitful information exchange and capacity development work which the IHRC has already engaged in with NHRIs from Ethiopia, Uganda and South Sudan.
The NHRI Capacity Development Partnership Project is in line with Ireland's development cooperation efforts and reflects the country's longstanding commitment to human rights as a whole.
