Who we are


The Commission

The Commission ordinarily consists of a President and 14 other members. Commissioners are appointed by Government for a term of 5 years following a public process. The legislation establishing the Commission requires that no less than seven Commissioners are women and no less than seven Commissioners are men.
The current President, Dr. Maurice Manning, took office on 1 August, 2002 and was reappointed in August 2007. The five year term of the second Commission ended on 1st October 2011. In December the Government appointed three interim Commissioners, who had been part of the second Commission. With the President they comprise the Commission and are:

In 2010, the IHRC launched a Human Rights Education and Training Project (supported by Atlantic Philanthropies). This project is now in its second phase.

In October 2010, the IHRC launched a Universal Periodic Review Project (supported by Atlantic Philanthropies).
